Best Friends Animal Society and No More Homeless Pets in Utah are now one organization and it's leading the way in saving the lives of animals. CEO Gregory Castle was on the show to discuss future projects including one in LA where they are designing to make the entire city no-kill by 2017. He also announced the opening of a brand new adoption center located in Trolley Square, as a partnership between Best Friends and Salt Lake County Animal Services. The goal is to adopt out 500 animals in the next 5 1/2 months. The center is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.
Best Friend's Animal Society operates the nation's largest no-kill animal sanctuary for abused and abandoned animals in Kanab, and drives national initiatives on a variety of animal welfare issues, including eradicating puppy mills, improving the reputation of pit bull terriers-type dogs and saving the lives of community cats. They have been named "National Non-profit Brand of the Year" two years in a row.
